I hope we’ve seen the last of the snow, but we’ve still been having chilly days that make me wonder.
This morning I picked up sticks and man-made debris from around my house and on my street. A noticeable amount of trash had been blown around by the high winds we had for a couple days. I picked up numerous shingles not knowing if they were from my house or my neighbors’. Probably both.
We’ve been getting a fair amount of rain. My lawn is green and ready to be mowed, how about yours? Is it about that time for you to get your mower running? Can you get yours started the first crank?
If you don’t have your own yard to clean up or are just keen to help keep our community clean, you can join the Second Annual Super Cleanup Saturday hosted by ‘Be The Change’ on Saturday, April 16th at Read Park, 10 a.m. The rain date is April 30th.
The mission is to clean up litter from the trails and streets of downtown Freeport “to show a positive presence on our streets and neighborhoods by spending the day picking up litter and fighting grime” according to the event notice.
Why is it a “Super” cleanup event? While helping to fight grime in our community you can wear a superhero costume. This is a family-friendly community event, all ages are welcome to participate.
