What’s cooking at 524 W. Stephenson St? A couple different times when I went to the office building where City Hall is currently located, I smelled the aroma of food for the Golden Meals program cooking. Golden Meals is Northwestern Illinois Action Agency program. I decided to take a look at its web site to find out more information about Golden Meals. Here’s an excerpt:
“The Golden Meals Program provides meals to senior citizens aged 60 and over at 9 meal sites in Stephenson, Jo Daviess, Carroll and Whiteside counties. Home delivered meals are also provided to those who are home-bound, isolated, frail or unable to prepare meals for themselves.”
According to the PDF info, senior dining is at the Stephenson County Freeport Central Kitchen is in the Lower Level at 524 W. Stephenson St.
To find out what time meal service and other activities such as Grocery Bingo get started, call (815) 232-8896. You can view the monthly menu on the Golden Meals web page. The menu is also published in The Rolling Stone.
The central site will be closed on Monday, 2/15/16 for Presidents’ Day.
“For Home-Delivered meal information, call (815) 232-8896. Congregate & Home-Delivered meals may also be available in Lena, Winslow, Galena, Lanark, East Dubuque, Mt. Carroll, Milledgeville, Chadwick, Pearl City, Shannon, Thomson, Fulton, Hanover, Prophetstown, Erie and much of the surrounding area.”
