If you read my past post Learning to Solve Problems you know that I’ve been going through a difficult time since I had to have a new water heater installed in May. Trying to earn extra money resulted in a sprained ankle which is still not healed due to re-injuring it a couple times while mowing on uneven ground.
With this post I am seeking practical assistance from community members who have free time available. I need help around my home and with my business endeavors including selling my crafts and works of art.
Before the financial bomb and ankle injury, I had intended to go back into writing newspaper articles for profit. That’s something I would still like to do, but I find myself needing to take care of the essential expected and unexpected responsibilities at home.
I could use the help of an experienced handyman. Recently a pipe under the bathroom sink started leaking. It sounds like the water is falling out.
I could use assistance replacing the toilet fill valve, flapper and handle. I have already purchased the parts.
The arm of one of my screen doors has come apart from the door, again.
I could also use help with hauling groceries, meal preparation, and dishwashing.
I have a hedge in need of a trim; lawn mowing as needed.
I enjoy living in Stephenson County and there are lots of good things going on here. I would like to spend more time writing about those things and the people who are doing positive things in the community. Part of that process is actually getting out of the house and going to different locations to talk to people and take photos.
The fall semester of GED classes starts later this month. I would like to return to the adult literacy program as a math, reading and writing tutor. I enjoyed the location I was at, the funny students, and the awesome Real Deal instructor I worked with last semester.
I’ve come across many volunteers in this community, so I know that there are people who enjoy helping others meet their short and long-term goals. My own volunteer experiences have been very rewarding in a variety of ways.
If you are available or know someone who could provide the kind of practical assistance I seek, contact me at RitaHawk17@comcast.net.
