On Saturday, May 9th I went to the annual Ladies’ Day Out event which was hosted at Lena Elementary School this year. The location of the event can vary. It was my first time attending, and boy, there was a lot to see!
According to the event notice on the Freeport/Stephenson County Visitors Center website, there were over 60 local home-based vendors “offering the very best in accessories, home décor, jewelry, collectibles, crafts, food, nutrition, cosmetics, gifts and more.”
Before entering the gymnasium I could hear the hum of many conversations and there was the aroma of good food which told me that there was definitely action going on inside. I went close to the final hour and there were still many people there.
I sampled chocolate dip that was being kept warm in a Velata brand “gleewarmer” which is a fondue warmer. I spoke with a representative who told me how the warmers came about: People started using their Scentsy warmers as fondue warmers. Scentsy warmers are not food-safe. Subsequently, Velata (which owns Scentsy) began producing a food-safe warmer.

I spoke with the rep on duty for the It Works! booth which is a line of body care products. If you’d like more info about their product line, do a search online for details.
There was a booth featuring crocheted & knitted items for sale. I will be showcasing the work of local artists and crafters in future blog posts. I am a big fan of creativity and craftsmanship!
